ISKCON Youth Forum

Many times people ask us that what ISKCON is contributing to the society. Let us understand it in this way. Every creation has a creator. In our experience we find no or an instrument that does not have any creator. So why this world should not have any creator? Every law implies a lawmaker. Just as we have constitution of India or Indian penal court. We are convinced that someone have made those laws. Similarly, we have laws of gravity, laws of Thermodynamics, laws of Motion etc. who made all these laws? We may say it is Nature but whose nature? Isn’t it? Krishna confirms in Bhagavad Gita 9.10,

  1. mayadhyakasena prakrtim
  2. suyate sa-caracaram
  3. hetunanena kaunteya
  4. jagad viparivartate

This material nature, which is one of my energies, is working under my direction, O son of Kunti, producing all the moving and non-beings. Under its rule this manifestation is created and annihilated again and again (BG 9.10). we refer to this nature as mother nature.

The very word mother implies that there must be a father. As Krishna confirms in Bhagavad Gita 14.4.

  1. sarva-yonisu kaunteya
  2. murtayah sambhavanti yah
  3. tasam brahma mahad yonir
  4. aham bija-pradah pita

It should be understood that all species of life, O son of Kunti, are made possible by birth in this material nature, and that I am the seed giving father (BG 14.4) We may believe God exists but why is he not visible to us. Actually we don’t have the complete vision to see Him. For instance, our eyes have limitation, we can only see within the range of 250nm to 270nm. Beyond that also frequency exists, but our eyes don’t have power to see them. Similarly, our ears have certain limitations, we can only hear within the range of 20Hz to 20kHz beyond that also sound vibrations are there but we can’t hear them. Sun appears like a small disc but with our knowledge we understand that the sum is 1.3 million times bigger than the earth. Sometimes we see water on road in sunny summer days but we know that there is no water; its only mirage, there is whistle known as dog whistle if a person blows it, nobody can hear but dogs can, and come nearby which shows that our senses have certain limitation. Since God is not perceived by our limited senses, He is also known as adhoksajah.

To understand God, we have to study, another dimension of science. Like for example, to study the motion of solid bodies, we have Newtonian mechanics, for flow of fluids, we have fluid mechanics, for kinematics of gases, we have kinetic theory of gases, to understand heat flow, we have heat transfer. To study the wave and particle nature of an electron, we have quantum mechanics. Now, to understand, quantum, we cannot apply newton’s aw. We have entirely different science. Similarly, to understand the dynamics of mind, intellect and ego: Soul and supersoul (God), we have science of different dimension, called spiritual science or the science of God.

Now, ISKCON’s contribution to the society, is that we are distributing this pure spiritual knowledge throughout the globe. Like an ordinary mundane university, we also have classrooms, teachers, books, courses, etc., We also conduct theory and practical examinations.

ISKCON youth forum focuses mainly on, youth training. Youth are the most receptive section of the society, and responsible too. They have the required passion, inquisitiveness and energy to understand this knowledge and to broadcast it all over the world. This is the mission of Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu. He wants that whosoever, born in this holy land on India, should make their own life successful and preach this message to others. If trained properly, youth can change the face of the world because they are the future leaders.

Youth preaching is already going on in ISKCON Bhubaneswar from past many years under the expert leadership and guidance of HG Satwatapati Prabhu. We have been sent here from Ujjain by our spiritual master HH Bhakti Charu Swami Maharaj. Simply to learn from them and assist them in their tiresome efforts to bring the revolution in the lives of misdirected youths in whole Odisha.

In this regard, we are trying to open spiritual centres throughout the city. These centres provide students with first-class living facilities with pure, hygienic Krishna Prasad at very nominal cost. Srila Bhakti Siddhanta Saraswati Thakur Maharaj, spiritual master of His Divine Grace A. C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, desired to open a first-class spiritual hostel in London. Although, we have not been able to meet his standards, but this may be considered as a tiny offering to him. Sour centres are running successfully in Jaydev Vihar, Khandagiri, Jatni and Patia. And we are planning to expand it to Patrapada and other parts of Bhubaneswar.

Srila Prabhupada has given us this complex Vedic knowledge very scientifically, systematically and in simplified version. Srila Gour Govinda Swami Maharaj has assisted him for preaching in Odisha. Although we can never repay their debts, but as a humble and faithful servant, we must follow their instructions and make our lives successful.
